I found this article while researching the topic of Clifford Beers and the destructive Mental Hygiene Movement, the origin of today’s Mental Health Awareness Movement. If not for the false beliefs of Adolph Meyer and his cunning strategy to hijack the rational, sensible cause initiated by Beers, we would not the catastrophe we have today, which D.J Jaffe summed up in the op-ed titled “Mental Health Kills the Mentally Ill”

We would not have a mental health industrial complex run amok, where one cannot turn on the radio without getting bombarded with ads about how we can all get in touch with one of thousands of therapists. Our lawmakers would not be funding crisis lines, and crisis centers outfitted with “calming chairs and operating under the belief that they are doing good. The mental health movement ensnared lawmakers and the general public into spending billions of dollars funding “mental health”, using the specter of suicide to inject the element of crisis into the “Mental Health” societal discourse, when in reality, suicide is relatively rare, libertarians would say it’s none of anyone’s business to interfere with, and most of society is ignorant about the fact that not all suicides are mental health related (meaning, caused by a life circumstance leading to a person losing the will to live.

What the general public and legislators are ignorant of is that there is what Bipolar expert Julie Fast referred to as “A Different Kind of Suicide”. What most people do not understand is that there is a type of “suicide” that is neurogenic, a neurological phenomenon where the brain’s command and control mechanisms compel a person to kill themselves….and if they are anosognosic when this happens, they cannot understand what is happening and cannot fight it off with all the willpower they are able to harness. This is the type of “suicide”, the kind caused by neurodevelopmental brain syndromes or encephalopathies that lawmakers should be primarily concerned with, in part because those same neurogenic command mechanisms can cause a person to kill or harm others.

We would not have something called ‘Parity’, which is illogical and based on a false premise.

In a 1996 Senate Hearing, Dr. E. fuller Torrey told Congress that the parity construct was illogical because what they were calling “mental disorders” were truly physical illnesses, i.e. brain illnesses – just as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Multiple Sclerosis were brain illnesses.

Our lawmakers and policy makers have been duped. Millions of people with neurodevelopmental brain syndromes are paying the price, with their lives and liberty (unjust punishment).

I thought I should post a link to this article because insightful articles like this are extremely rare finds.
